Sheff Utd defender calls ‘edited’ TNT Sport replays ‘clearly biased’

Ahmedhodzic appeared to foul Jarrod Bowen in the dying seconds of Sunday’s match but claims footage was clipped to favour West Ham

Sheffield United defender Anel Ahmedhodzic has made the bizarre claim that broadcaster TNT Sport edited footage to add validity to a West Ham United penalty appeal.
Ahmedhodzic was involved in a tangle with West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen in the 104th minute of Sunday’s 2-2 draw at Bramall Lane, moments after Oli McBurnie had equalised for the home team with a penalty that was also contentious.
Bowen appeared to be wrestled to the ground by Ahmedhodzic in the box, but referee Michael Salisbury awarded Sheffield United a free-kick for a foul by Bowen.
TNT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand described the incident as a “stonewall penalty” while Joe Cole compared Ahmedhodzic’s defending to the Six Nations. Tweeting on X, Ahmedhodzic suggested the “biased” replays did not show the incident in full context.
Clearly biased. You can see at the unedited footage where he pulls me down with him which makes me lose sight of the ball. Obviously it’s been edited to make it look like a pen to West Ham 👍🏼 https://t.co/QGl7B4Yms3
West Ham manager David Moyes was unhappy that VAR failed to change the on-field decision, and said there was a level of acceptance about the standard of Premier League officiating.
Moyes said: “We’ve got to a stage now where we are settling for a level of officiating where we are all shrugging our shoulders and saying ‘okay’. I’m shrugging my shoulders again, we don’t know what they are going to do.”
West Ham dropped two points having led twice in the match, with Sheffield United awarded a penalty in the 103rd minute after goalkeeper Alphonse Areola and McBurnie collided. Rhian Brewster and Vladimír Coufal were also sent off during a remarkable period of stoppage time.
Sheffield United remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier League, seven points from safety, but have avoided defeat in three of their last six games under Chris Wilder.
“That is the least we deserved,” Wilder said. “I thought we were really good. My side has character, resilience and a bit of bottle. We have to bridge the gap and we have some good players.”
